Course Aim

This introduction to Excel will provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the commands and functions available in Excel at a beginner's level, enabling delegates to create and manage spreadsheets by the end of the course. A good understanding of the basics of calculations will be gained.

Who Should Attend?

Users with no existing knowledge of Excel and new or recent users of Excel who want to gain a good understanding of Excel. Those who want to build a solid and comprehensive knowledge of Excel from the basics upwards.

Prerequisites

Ability to use the keyboard and mouse. An understanding of Windows.

  • Starting and exiting from Excel

  • Minimising, maximising and restoring
  • Using the Ribbon to execute commands
  • Customising the Quick Access Toolbar
  • Excel views for displaying spreadsheets

Creating and Working with Excel Workbooks

  • Creating new and blank workbooks
  • Creating workbooks using templates
  • Saving, closing and opening workbooks
  • Changing the name of workbooks
  • Switching between open workbooks

Working with Worksheets and Data

  • Moving around a worksheet
  • Selecting techniques
  • Entering and editing worksheet data
  • Identifying how worksheet data behaves
  • Looking at dates and numbers, and controlling formats
  • Entering information using the autofill
  • Deleting and copying using the autofill
  • Creating and using customised lists

Managing Worksheet Data
